My name, SiouxperNova, is a tribute to two parts of my life: my culture and career. Sioux is a reference to my Native American heritage; I’m a proud member of the Yankton Sioux tribe. I’m SIOUXPER excited to also skate with Team Indigenous at the 2018 Roller Derby World Cup. When I’m not on the track, I’m working as an astronomer studying some of the most energetic phenomena in the universe, including the explosive deaths of stars known as supernovae. I also get to study gamma-ray bursts, supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies, black holes that rip apart stars, and other objects that go BANG in the universe.
My butt on the opposing team’s jammer as I watch ours get ALL the points.
Why do you love being a Reservoir Doll?
To me, being a Reservoir Doll means being diligent and tenacious. I love working hard for what I have and become. It’s great to be surrounded by my Reservoir family, which includes so many like-minded people who push each other to be the best that we can be.
